About Expat Money Hub
Expat Money Hub is an independent reference for the money side of living abroad as an American: moving money internationally, opening a bank account, handling US and local taxes, and investing, all organized by destination country.
Most content on these topics is either written by the companies trying to sell you something or is generic and years out of date. We do the opposite: structured, sourced, regularly re-verified, and honest about the catches.
Who runs this site
Expat Money Hub is researched and maintained by Brendan McClear, who writes every guide and country page, sources each figure to official references (IRS, SSA, FinCEN, and official country sources), and dates every page so you can see when it was last verified. He is not a tax adviser or financial planner. The site exists to organize the official rules in one place so you can verify them yourself.
Independent and not affiliated
Expat Money Hub is an independent reference and is not a bank, broker, tax adviser, or government agency. Nothing here is financial, tax, or legal advice. We earn affiliate commissions on some outbound links, which never change our recommendations (see our affiliate disclosure and editorial & data policy).
A note on accuracy
Tax and money rules change and depend heavily on your specific situation. We work hard to keep data current and mark when each country was last verified, but you must confirm anything important with official sources and a qualified cross-border professional before acting.
